Overview
The manufacturer describes the Lokomat as a gait robot that assists patients in relearning to walk from initial steps.
The Lokomat reduces the manual support burden on therapists during patient ambulation, allowing greater focus on the patient and therapy. It provides natural weight-bearing, afferent sensory feedback, and physiological vertical displacement throughout the complete gait cycle. Hip and knee joint angles can be adjusted independently during training to accommodate specific patient needs. Both body weight support and robotic assistance are adjustable.
The Lokomat is intended for adult and pediatric patients with severe to moderate impairments in walking ability and functional activities. Lokomat gait training targets adults and children with moderate to severe walking and functional activity disorders. Training includes gamified exercises based on virtual reality.
